Quotes about the
BluzNdaBlood Podcast

"This show is a real labor of love for me and I always appreciate any feedback I get. The power of the
Internet is amazing! My first taste of its power came from Daniel Baird from Walkertown, NC who tracked
me down at a blues festival in Roanoke, VA to tell me how much he and his wife Mariam enjoyed the show!
It really motivated me to continue! It's obviously not the pay! :-) "

I came across your site while looking for podcasts that feature blues
artists. I love that you have such a passion for the blues. It really

    "Dave,

Yet another great show! Also an excellent theme for this show.

When we play the blues we are giving homage to folks who worked 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, at the hardest of labor, lived in dirt-floored clapboard shacks without water or heat, yet had time and energy to play the blues on  Saturday evening, then get up and go to church.

God's music on Sunday, and the devil's music Saturday nights...

We should be eternally grateful for all they gave us.

Keep giving us the fruits of that labor of love, my friend. Keep the blues alive."

    Best wishes,

    "Hi Dave,

    Peter here from Australia.

I have just found your website and downloaded ALL the
podcasts and I am still listening to them. What a great
website. It has introduced me to many artists I have never
heard of before. I particularly like Watermelon Slim and
    bought all of his CD's.

Have you visited the website from my hometown in Adelaide at
www.sablues.org which also has podcasts for download.

Keep up the good work. "

Thank you so much for it.
Was walking home along the river tonight, after a few drinks, listening to this, feeling so very much at home
I sat down on the grass for a while and just lay back and listened. Beautiful. So very fine.
    Thank you so much.

The BluzNdaBlood Show 43, Black and Blues!

This is show 43, Black and Blues for the last part of February, 2008.

Hey, welcome back, my blues brothers and sisters! This is Dave Harrison, your bluesman coming at ya once again from the Star City of Virginia. This month is Black History Month! As a result I've created this show with a lineup of only African American bluesmen and blues women. But this show is dedicated to the black men and women that were in the cotton fields that created this music that has evolved and enriched our lives through the years! . . . . . . . . .

Very happy to say you can also find this fine podcast among my myspace friends. BluzNdaBlood"

    Patty Benson
    11/09/07

Note From Dave: I have to admit, I had a tough time recognizing Patty before she took the stage
at the 2nd Annual Women in Blues Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina in early November!
She was dressed in a beautiful white dress with her hair tightly pulled back. Okay, I hope this doesn't
get me in trouble but Patty was...... ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! She belted out a lot of tunes off of her
2,666 Miles CD, and had the house rocking! Thanks goodness she hung around so I could introduce
myself and tell her what a super job she did! You'll be seeing a picture of the two of us on the web site
soon, and you listeners can be assured that you'll be hearing more of her on my podcast!

    "Dave
If you only know how happy I was that you made it...and thank you again for all your support. Your Pod Casts for the
WiB were so well done and you showed so much respect to everyone involved.

You are a true brother of the blues!"

Love your page and its tribute to women in the blues. There are so many powerful, soulful women in this industry who

What can I say other than you have done us proud and you are only half done! Oh my goodness
I did enjoy show #35 and all the artists coming to the National Women in Blues Festival. I love
how you mention our sponsors because without them we would not have an event. You did your
homework on the ladies and give out some nice background on them. It was fun for me and
    I run the event!

Even though I have read up on these ladies, you made it fresh. Thank you for your enthusiasm
and continued support to blues and women in blues too!"

    "Hi Dave,

First off, thanks for a GREAT podcast! Stumbled upon it a week or so ago and I really
am getting some Blues nda blood!

Can’t seem to download show # 9 though, and as it features ‘Blues In My Blood’ I’d
really like to listen to it. I tried going to your site and downloading manually, but I still get an
error message – can you help?

As I said, love the show, especially the songs from seminal bluesmen like Lead Belly and
such – I guess I am just old-fashioned, but give me a 12-string acoustic over an electric guitar
    any day! "

    Keep up the good work,
    Clare from Australia!

Great job at the Big Lick Blues at Elmwood Park...
We would LOVE TO HEAR more from  Little Rodger and the Cheap Thrills! They were
the bomb and then they played at Blue Moon5 and were awesome.
I know they are working on a new CD......and their website lists local clubs we
    can hear them...can't wait. "

    "Hey Dave,

Love the shows. Podcasting has made the blues so accessible and put it
back out front for so many.

I have a question about show #33. You played some live cuts from Paul
Thorn. I am in instant fan! Would you be so kind to share with me what
album or where you got that recording. I have looked on his site and I
think I know which one it is but there are not enough examples to be
sure. Thanks and keep up the great work."

    Brad M.

Note From Dave: Hey, Brad! Thanks for the kind words, bro! Actually, I had a helluva time finding the
tunes I used for the broadcast. But I did find some recording that Paul mentioned on his web site that I
downloaded the entire concert and included snippets or songs that I thought my listeners would enjoy!
Check out: http://1moeradio.com/ and scroll down. One can download some of his entire shows!

    "Hi Dave

Great show! Been catching up on all your old shows on the way to work. Nothing like a little blues in the morning :-)

Not sure if anyone has emailed you about this before but I have been having some trouble with the audio levels. I find it quite hard to hear you when you are speaking on the podcast but I can hear the songs fine. This means that whenever you start speaking I have to turn the volume right up and then go deaf when the first song comes on. I spend my whole bus ride turning the volume up and down. Was just wondering if you are aware of this.

Love the show though and keep up the fantastic work. And in case you are curious about your audience demographic, I'm 27 originally from South Africa, but have been living in London for 2 years :-)  "

    Regards
    Mike

Note From Dave: Hey, Mike! Thanks for touching base and letting me know! Actually, this is
something that I'm aware of now. When I first started publishing a lot of the shows they sounded
fine on my PC. But once I started listening on my laptop or my iPod I soon discovered I wasn't
testing this thoroughly enough before publishing them to my hosting service! Unfortunately,
once the shows are published and are available for a couple of weeks, they are moved to an
area where I can't edit them any more! Bottom line a lot of my older shows do not have the
audio levels equalized. I'm hoping that doesn't happen too much with the new shows!

I've also started to use a higher quality mic that's making it easier to work with! Thanks
for you patience and to all the other patient listeners! Hey, this is what gives me the blues!

Please keep in touch and let me know if there are any other ways to improve the show!
    Dave

know how much your efforts are appreciated.
The blues doesn't get a whole lot of radio time (before I made the IPod,
podcast breakthrough, I was limited to about three hours weekly up here
near Edmonton) and lets face it, the music deserves far more airplay. Its
guys like you and Dave Raven and Tony Steidler-Dennison who are making
real contributions for lovers of the blues and, more importantly, blues
musicians who deserve a wider audience."

    "Dear Dave,

thanks so much for this great news, it makes it all worth it to us too, messages such as these
are priceless and I love it when someone stumbles on our music and enjoys it, that's the wonder
of podcasts because people find music that they never knew existed! You're doing such a
great job and we appreciate it very much, thanks again for letting us know and if anyone else
needs a good link to download some of our blues or the more obscure tracks soundclick is
probably best, just in case you need it -

Not all of our material is there but a good proportion of it is, we are happy to make any songs
downloadable if someone goes mad over a particular song!

I found the Too Late link at a Maria Daines website.

I'm not sure if you can buy it anywhere, but I have it at the 58-minute
    mark of your 25th podcast.

That particular effort is one of the finest podcasts I've ever heard. My
measuring stick is if I would pay to buy the collection if it were sold
as a CD. The other podcast that I hold this high regard is the South
Australia Roots and Blues No. 34 tribute to Robert Johnson. If you
haven't given that one a listen, by all means do so. You'll be
    impressed, I suspect."

"The Roanoke web-site for the festival had a link to a blues podcaster named Dave.  Dave's show is
    called
Bluzndablood.  Way cool and fits my budget -Free free free.  He has done at least six podcasts so
far (about an hour each).  He picks good tunes and has a very cool blues voice.  He gives lots of little
facts but doesn't talk to much!  I downloaded all the podcasts and listened to them through my MP3
player on the way to the show.  He helped me discover some good tunes and in one show he highlighted
the festival by playing songs from the bands that played the fest.  What a great idea Dave.  Cool.
suggest you check this out.  It's free fun and good tunes.  I can't wait to check out the latest one.
If you download podcast 5, you'll hear Dave give a shoutout to us blues fans here in
Walkertown.  I knew one day that Walkertown would be famous."
