This is show #110, New Blues For A New Year!

Welcome back everybody and welcome to another BluzNdaBlood Show! This is your Brutha Dave
coming to you once again from the beautiful Star City of Virginia!

Hey, guess what? This show was recently voted one of the top local “Best Internet Radio Station
or Podcast” for the 2010 Roanoke Times Music Poll! Pandora was the only one voted higher!
That was really impressive since they aren’t even from the area! Thanks to all those who voted!
I really do appreciate it!

Well it’s time for my traditional “New Blues for a New Year” show! I’ll be spinning up some great
new blues tunes that are probably ones you haven’t a chance to hear yet! So now you can hear
your sneak preview and then go to the BluzNdaBlood web site and follow the hyperlinks to go
buy this great music!

We started off the show with a great little shuffle from Pete Anderson off his long awaited fifth
solo
Little Dog Records album “Even Things Up”. That tune was “Dogbone Shuffle”…

So who else are we gonna hear from on my 110th show?  Well, how about some Sean
Carney music that isn’t even available yet? I’ll follow that with Phil Berkowitz, Lynwood Slim
and the Igor Prado Band, Sixteen Bars, Super Chikan, Sandy Mack, Tas Cru, Albert Castiglia,
Rickey Godfrey, The Mannish Boys, and wrapping it up with a little Coco Montoya! So how’s
that grab ya? Are you ready for some New Blues for a New Year? Well, I hope so! Crank it up,
my friends, we’re off and running!

Woo hoo! That first great set started off with The Sean Carney Band! That tune was called
“Monday Blues” off of a soon to be released un-named CD!  I want to thank Sean, Steve,
Mark, and Mike for the great hospitality I received at the 4th Annual
Sean Carney’s Blues For A Cure
charity event held recently in Columbus OH! I had a super time! By the way, please consider
still making your donation for this great charity. Go to “bluesforacure.org” and make your
tax-deductible pledge today! Following Sean, we had a great harp player and vocalist who I
also had the pleasure of meeting at the “Blues For A Cure” event. That second song in the set
was
Phil Berkowitz playing “Salt Pork, West Virginia” from his CD entitled
Phil Berkowitz plays… Louis’ Blues” That’s a Dirty Cats Records CD and highlights an
entire collection of tunes by Louis Jordan. Very good CD, my friends! The last song on that
first set was a brand new
Delta Groove Music  CD from Lynwood Slim and the Igor Prado
Band called “
Brazilian Kicks”…

That was a super song to end our second set for today’s show! That was Sandy Mack with
“Boogie Now” that’s on his
Blues Leaf Records  CD called Still Going Strong CD. Before
Sandy, we heard the super
Super Chikan and his tune called “Front Porch Boogie” from
his Bluestown Records CD called
Chikadelic . Before Super Chikan, we started off our
second set with “61 Highway Blues”, a tune by The Delta Flyers. Their Soulbilly Music Group
CD is called “Sixteen Bars” and it’s a very good CD, and thanks again to Blind Raccoon for
sending me that!  Talk about new blues! That’s not scheduled to be released until early January….

Alright, let’s start our third set of the show with a little Tas Cru and his tune called “’Dat Maybe”….

This is once again The BluzNdaBlood Show #110 playing “New Blues for a New Year!”…
Tas Cru started off the third set with his song “”Dat Maybe”  from his Jus’ Desserts CD on
the
Crustee Tees Records label. The super talented Albert Castiglia cranked out his “Mojo 305”
that’s on his
Blues Leaf Records CD called “Keepin’ On”…That third set ended with
Rickey Godrey “I Want Me A Nasty Woman” off his Serenity Hill CD called “Nasty Man”.
This is a very good CD that comes recommended by me and thanks to my friend Dariel Bendin
for turning me on to Rickey’s sound!

Before we start off our last set for the show, I’d like to thank the record labels for making
this show possible! Thanks to Little Dog Records, Dirty Cats Records, Delta Groove Music,
Blues Leaf Records, Bluestown Records, the Soulbilly Music Group, Crustee Tees Records,
Ruf Records, and Serenity Hill…

Also special thanks to Michael Allen Engstrom from the
Crossroads Blues Gallery for letting
me use his great artwork on my web sites! I just ordered “Maxwell Street Jimmy” to add to
my collection! Hey, go to crossroadsbluesgallery.com and start your collection today!

Alright, let’s start off our final set with David Gerald

That was Coco Montoya with his great song called, “Hey Senorita” off of his newest

Ruf Records CD,  I Want It All Back. Before Coco, we were treated to a great Mannish Boys
song called “Too Tired” off of their brand new
Delta Groove Music CD, Shake For Me. And
before that, we were lucky enough to hear
David Gerald with “Postman” off his “Hell and Back” CD…
