Well, hello there! It's time once again for another BluzNdaBlood Show! This is your  blues DJ Dave Harrison coming at ya once again from the Star City of Virginia!

I've got another great show for you! Well, it's that time of year again when I can get to brag about what a great job the Blue Ridge Blues Society has done in getting an incredible lineup for this year's festival! For more details about the festival go to the Blue Ridge Blues Society's web site at http://blueridgeblues.org

Well, we started off the show with our headliner, The Tommy Castro Band playing "I'm Not Broken" off his Painkiller CD!  Tommy and the band won FOUR Blues Foundation's Blues Music Awards in 2010! Band of the Year, BB King Entertainer of the Year, Contemporary Blues Artist of the Year, and Contemporary Blues Album of the Year! Certainly worth seeing him when he heads into town! This is obviously blues that it TOP NOTCH!

So who else are we gonna hear from on my "Blues & BBQ Festival Preview" show? How about Clarence "The Bluesman" Turner, Albert Castiglia, a few tunes from Keith Crossan, Tommy's long time sax player and BMA nominee for many years for Best Instrumentalist for Horn, and wrapping up the show with lots more of The Tommy Castro Band!

So…. Are you ready ready to hear some of my "Blues and BBQ Festival Preview"? Well, I hope so! Crank it up my friends, we’re off and running!

Well, we started off the first set with Clarence "The Blues Man" Turner who was last year's blues competition winner and the band that we sent to the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in the band competition!

Now I've been playing Albert Castiglia for many years now, and find it damn near impossible to pick 3 songs that will really show how incredibly talented that  he is. There were so many songs that are favorites that I had to cut (Ghosts of Mississippi, Cadillac Assembly Line, Closing Time, Party Til the Cows Come Home, and lots more!) But we'll have to narrow it down to three and then hopefully all of you will just go buy them all and find out for yourselves! "Godfather of the Blues", "Bad Year Blues" and "Sweet Southern Angel" are my choices!

Our next set is a short one but a good one! Keith Crossan put out a CD recently that is very good but its hard to find!  Keith is very gifted and a well deserved continual nominee for the Blues Music Award's. Here's "Turk's Groove" and "Huggy Bare"...

Our last set of music is a great way to wrap our festival preview show! We start off with a TCB classic, "You Got Somethin''" off the No Foolin' CD from 1993! After that we're treated with a new tune sung by the beautiful Janiva Magness on the new Legendary Rhythm & Blues Revue Live! CD. We wrap up with the great tune "Make It Back To Memphis" of the award winning Album of the Year, Hard Believer!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed show #123, "Blues & BBQ Festival Preview!"... Swing by the BluzNdaBlood booth at the festival. I'll have lots of drawings for CDs, cups, mugs, and water bottles! Stop and say "Hey!" Plus I love to take pictures of me and my listeners!
